Field Trips

Except for trip 1, field trips include lunch and will be scheduled to allow participants to depart Whitehorse on the afternoon flight. Space is limited; trips may be cancelled if minimums are not met. Costs are per person and include GST. Please register and pay for field trips when you register for the conference.

Field Trip 1: Impacts of Climate Change in the Kluane Region

September 24th and 25th Peter Johnson (Department of Geography, University of Ottawa) and David Hik (Department of Biological Sciences, University of Alberta) will lead this two-day field trip on the potential impacts of climate change in the Kluane region of the southwest Yukon.

Field Trip 2: Kwaday Dan Kenjii / Long Ago Peoples Place
Sunday, September 24th Learn about the history, culture and heritage of Yukon First Nations by visiting this traditional camp, located an hour from Whitehorse.

Field Trip 3: Wolf Creek Research Basin
Sunday, September 24th This guided tour visits a number of research and monitoring sites, including an EMAN, ITEX and a hydro-metric station, just south of Whitehorse.
