Porcupine Caribou Harvest Model

You have chosen an average climate, a high harvest rate, harvesting both bulls and cows.

The model will calculate for each year:
  1. Caribou cow body weight in the fall (breeding season) based on the selected level of insect harassment.
  2. Caribou cow body weight in the spring (calving time) based on the selected level of snow depth.
  3. The rate of pregnancy based on the cow body weight in the fall.
  4. The rate of calf survival based on the cow body weight in the spring.
  5. For the selected harvest rate and type, the number of caribou of each age and sex class removed from the Herd through harvest.
  6. Herd size and annual harvest, based on these calculated rates of pregnancy, calf survival and mortality.
run model The model will prepare a graph of the herd size and a graph of the total annual harvest for each of the next ten years under the conditions you have chosen.
