Community Populations in Canada
What is happening?
- The size of most communities has remained about the same over the last five years except for Inuvik which has grown by about 10% and Old Crow and Tsiigehtchic which have decreased by 10 to 15%.
Why is it important?
- Growing communities may place more pressures on the local environment to support humans needs. For example, larger numbers of people would likely increase demand for infrastructure (waste disposal, drinking water), air traffic and country food.
Technical Notes
- Data were obtained from Statistics Canada Census figures
