An Energy Strategy for Yukon: Draft for Public Consultation pdf 956 KB

Help set the current and future direction of energy in Yukon. The Energy Strategy is important to setting the current and future direction of energy in the territory. Your views are important to the preparation of a final Strategy. You are invited to review the draft Energy Strategy and provide comments. Please provide your comments by June 30, 2008. Government of the Yukon releases draft Climate Change Action Plan - May 12, 2008
The draft Yukon Government Climate Change Action Plan sets out 33 specific actions that would advance the goals set out in the 2006 Yukon Government Climate Change Strategy.

The draft Yukon Government Climate Change Action Plan is ready for public review and comment. The deadline for public comment is July 31, 2008.

Waterlution: The Future of Water Workshop Series 2008 - Engaging Youth on Water Issues. Whitehorse Workshop August 1-3, 2008
Integrated Watershed Management in Yukon Territory: Traditional and Local Knowledge

This is a two-day residential workshop to engage youth from the Yukon Territory in dialogue surrounding current water issues in the region, specifically on topics related to First Nations tribal boundaries, local knowledge and integrating scientific insights from theInternational Polar Year water areas. The workshop will be based at the Vista Outdoor Learning Centre located just north of Whitehorse.

20 individuals 20-35 years will be participating in the workshop. To apply, submit a one-page application letter describing: why you are interested in learning about current water issues in Yukon; what potential you see in inter-sectoral dialogue; and what background you will bring to the discussion. 2 Greenland Ice Core Analysis Shows Drastic Climate Change Near End Of Last Ice Age

Information gleaned from a Greenland ice core by an international science team shows that two huge Northern Hemisphere temperature spikes prior to the close of the last ice age some 11,500 years ago were tied to fundamental shifts in atmospheric circulation.

5 NASA Launches Ocean Satellite To Keep A Weather, Climate Eye Open

A new NASA-French space agency oceanography satellite launched June 20 from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., on a globe-circling voyage to continue charting sea level, a vital indicator of global climate change. The mission will return a vast amount of new data that will improve weather, climate and ocean forecasts.

6 Alaska village threatened by warming gets funding
