Yukon Territorial Budget - 2008-09 Budget Investing in Yukon Future:
Whitehorse, Yukon, March 20, 2008 - The Government of Yukons 2008-2009
Capital and Operations and Maintenance budget, totaling $899.7 million,
was tabled in the legislative assembly today by Premier Dennis Fentie...There
is over $1 million going toward the environment: $200,000 to begin a five-year
project to research and develop climate change adaptations for Yukon communities,
$130,000 for a Climate Change Action Plan, and $505,000 for an extension
of fish, wildlife and habitat surveys. |

Alaskan Climate Assessment Commission Ends 2-year Process to Address
Potential Effects of Climate Change on State. Juneau - The legislatively
appointed Alaska Climate Impact Assessment Commission released its final
report to the Legislature and Palin administration today. Representative
Ralph Samuels, R-Anchorage, the Commission Chairman, said the report encompasses
nearly two years of activity to assess potential impacts on the state's
citizens, communities, natural resources, state assets, and its economy.. |

The Institute of Public Administration of Canada - Yukon Region presents: United Nations Convention on Climate Change: What was learned and what's next on the international agenda. Johanna Smith, Climate Change Coordinator with Environment Yukon, attended the United Nations Convention on Climate Change in Bali in December 2007. She was on-hand to witness the adoption of the "Bali roadmap", the foundation upon which a future international agreement on climate change will be built.
