Yukon Territorial Budget - 2008-09 Budget Investing in Yukon Future: Whitehorse, Yukon, March 20, 2008 - The Government of Yukon’s 2008-2009 Capital and Operations and Maintenance budget, totaling $899.7 million, was tabled in the legislative assembly today by Premier Dennis Fentie...There is over $1 million going toward the environment: $200,000 to begin a five-year project to research and develop climate change adaptations for Yukon communities, $130,000 for a Climate Change Action Plan, and $505,000 for an extension of fish, wildlife and habitat surveys.

Get ready to pay higher insurance premiums. And you can thank poor weather for that as well.

Canadian insurers are warning that climate change is forcing them to re-examine their coverage policies as costs spiral upward from floods, wind storms and other natural phenomena. Climate change is the greatest strategic threat facing the insurance industry, according to a new list of challenges to insurers released yesterday by financial advisory firm Ernst & Young.
