NWT Climate Change Leadership Summit
January 15-17, 2007
Explorer Hotel, Yellowknife, NWT
Ecology North and the Dene Nation organized this Summit because of the need to have a high level discussion with NWT leaders on the issue of climate change. The Summit's objectives were for leaders to:
- learn important information about the impacts of climate change in the NWT;
- find out what is being done to reduce the impacts of climate change;
- hear northern success stories about managing and adapting to the impacts of climate change; and
- discuss next steps and actions to support communities, regions and others in the NWT to plan for, manage and adapt to climate change.
The Summit was made possible with the generous support from the following sponsors: the NWT Federal Council; the NWT Rural Team; Rural Secretariat, Agriculture and Agrifoods Canada; Indian and Northern Affairs Canada; GNWT Environment and Natural Resources; Natural Resources Canada; Environment Canada; GNWT Transportation; GNWT Industry, Tourism & Investment; Canadian North; and the World Wildlife Fund.
