Research Needs Survey
In 2003 and 2004, C-CIARN North and the Northern Climate ExChange asked northerners, researchers, and others concerned about the North what research is needed to help the North assess and adapt to climate change. This page presents the results of this project.
Compendium: Yukon-based Research Related to Climate and Climate Change 1978-2003
This Compendium is derived from C-CIARN North's Yukon Research Database. Not all climate-related research done in the Yukon in the last 25 years is included in this volume. Because academic and private research is generally licensed under the Yukon Scientists and Explorers Act but most government research is not, the database and Compendium are biased toward academic and private research. We hope to correct this bias in future volumes and in intervening updates to the online database.

Yukon Community Survey Results
The Yukon Community Survey was administered during the first quarter of 2004. Its goal was to sample the thinking of Yukoners about the kind of research required to help them understand and adapt to the impacts of a changing climate on the territory.

Literature Review: Previously Identified Research Needs
C-CIARN North is not the first organization to think about research needs related to climate change in the Canadian North. In fact, a number of organizations, agencies, and government departments have drawn up lists of climate change research needs over the past few years. Too often these lists are buried in proceedings, workshop reports, and research plans with a broader focus. To avoid losing the earlier efforts and going over the same ground again, C-CIARN North has conducted a literature review of existing expressions of research needs related to climate change impacts and adaptation.

Online Survey Results
The C-CIARN North Online Research Needs Survey was administered through the C-CIARN North website in the first part of 2003, closing in early October. The purpose of the survey was to help develop a broad sense of the research needs related to climate change impacts and adaptation in Canada's North.
