Baseline Jobs Scenario

"What jobs will there be in Old Crow in 10, 20, 40 years if policies and economic conditions do not change?"

Our best guess is that if global and national economic conditions remain at or near where they are currently, and government funding for programs does not change, the number and type of jobs in Old Crow will be the same as they are today.

Specifically, we are assuming that funding for education, health care, transportation, housing and other government programs will not change. Land Claims funding will also continue at its current levels. In this scenario, we are assuming that there will not be a sharp change in the national economy. Nor will there be a change in policies affecting access to homelands.

This is not necessarily our prediction for the future. But it is a useful comparison for the tourism and other development scenarios.
