Project Policy Statement on Sharing and Disseminating Community Information
Members of the Arctic Community Sustainability Project research team agree that each community participating in the Arctic Community Sustainability project maintains full rights to all data that the community contributes in the research process. This means that no files, reports, or articles which include that information will be published or distributed which includes community information without review of the participating community. Members also agree that information used in this research and coming from other sources (like unpublished data contributed by researchers not on our research team) will be shared to participating communities as it becomes available, given that those who contribute data approve of its distribution. Communities participating in the project will treat information contributed by others in the same spirit applied to data contributed by the community itself. That is, communities will not give out data provided by other scientists or communities without the express permission of those contributing the data. It is our hope that these policies will allow researchers and participating communities to share information, while at the same time respecting each others' rights and concerns. We also hope that researchers and communities can develop the trust needed to establish a positive and mutually beneficial work relationship. From Kofinas, G.P.
