This reporting unit includes the Liard Basin, Muskwa Plateau and the Hyland ecoregions. The Liard Basin is characterized by forested rolling hills, valleys and lowlands with the highest potential for forest products in the Yukon. The Hyland ecoregion is characterized by low relief and broad undulating plateaus and hills. The valleys are narrow and deeply incised with very little of the terrain extending above the treeline. A small portion of the Muskwa Plateau is included in the most easterly portion of Central Yukon. This is a boreal mid-cordilleran ecoregion occurring along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in northeastern British Columbia, a corner of the Yukon and spanning the border with the Northwest Territories.
